This catalog follows the original cover’s composition across published comics and announced editions. Trade dress, virgin, foil and sketch treatments are described in edition notes. Connecting sets identify their participating issues and panels.

Verified records have source support for the exact cover and target. Partial records retain attribution or edition gaps. Reprints, interior-scene homages, different targets and unresolved references are listed separately below.

Original July 1986 cover-date issue; indexed on-sale March 25, 1986. Native DC publisher digital master 1988×3073, clean full printed artwork/title/creator box and logo, no external white mat or yellowed scan paper. This digital master omits original price/UPC in lower creator box, as does the publisher display; original art and composition retained. Warm gray creator boxes and painted skin/background are the supplied publisher palette, not yellowed page margins. No upscaling, recoloring or artwork cropping. Publisher modern page placeholder date (January 1, 2020) is not used as the historical on-sale date. Klaus Janson is interior inker; cover itself inked by Miller. Dark Knight Triumphant: a battle-damaged Batman crouches forward with clenched fists. Distinct from #1 lightning leap, #3 silhouette and #4 horseback imagery.
